From Level 1 to Extreme
Touratech Travel suspension is available in various designs: Level 1, Level 2, High End and Extreme. Whereby all our shock absorbers have the following features:
- Special Touratech setup for balance and damping
- Adjustable rebound damping at the bottom of the shock absorber with special setup for touring
- Large 16 mm piston rod made of chrome-molybdenum steel for maximum strength and durability
- Floating piston design: damping fluids, oil and nitrogen are separated, resulting in a more sensitive shock absorber response.
- Low friction special seals with integrated Teflon backup ring for low wear and long shock absorber life
- Robust stainless-steel bushings in the shaft eyelet to ensure stable seating of the fastening screw even under maximum loads

Level 2, High-End & Extreme:
They also feature a uniquely solid hydraulic spring preload with 50% more range of adjustment for weekend trips or large amounts of luggage for your long-distance trip.
High-End & Extreme:
- Separately adjustable high and low speed damping, for precise damping setting at very high damping frequency and under heavy use (bad roads, trails carrying luggage)
- Piggyback-reservoir on the shock absorber for improved cooling performance of the shock absorber oil and higher damping performance under heavy use
Extreme:
PDS - travel-dependent damper piston: hydraulic bottoming out protection using a second damper piston, i.e. no bottoming out of the shock absorber
Electronic suspensions:
Touratech Suspension Plug & Travel suspension systems are available in different versions depending on the motorbike - type and model year. The following features distinguish Touratech Suspension Plug & Travel suspension systems:
- The suspension is integrated into your bike and operated via the original BMW control unit.
- Special Touratech basic setup for balance and damping.
- The existing plug connectors and switches on the handlebars are used as usual.
- All ride modes and configurations remain the same.
- Touratech EPA (EPA = Electric-Preload Adjuster) balances your motorbike with a 15 mm preload range +/- via the remote control.
- Damping adjustment, depending on the model year, via our patented DDA valve or the Touratech Suspension stepper motor

Touratech suspension cartridge kit: the shock absorber for your forks
Putting it simply, the Touratech Suspension Cartridge Kit Extreme is a suspension strut for the fork and the absolute top end in terms of suspension technology. The Closed Cartridge is installed into the original fork. This way the fork bridge/handlebar mount, brakes and wheel control and handlebar geometry are retained in full. No additional modifications to the fork are required. This Closed Cartridge is been developed perfectly for touring and riding with frequent and strongly differing loads and riding conditions or extreme requirements.
