Backcountry Discovery Routes Expands into Canada, Names MotoMotto/Touratech Canada Exclusive Canadian Distributor

Official BDR maps and decals now available online in Canada, with a dealer network to follow and the Vancouver Island BDR-X launching January 2027

SEATTLE, WA (November 3, 2026) — Backcountry Discovery Routes® (BDR®) is expanding into Canada. Today BDR announced MotoMotto/Touratech Canada as its exclusive Canadian distributor of official BDR maps and decals, giving Canadian riders an easy way to get BDR products close to home just as the first Canadian routes arrive.

BDR's Canadian route lineup begins with:

  • Vancouver Island BDR-X — releasing January 2027

  • British Columbia BDR — releasing in 2028

More Canadian routes are planned for the years ahead.

Starting today, Canadian riders can buy official BDR maps and decals online at www.motomotto.ca and soon at select dealers across the country. No more cross-border shipping costs or long waits,  just the gear riders need to plan their next adventure, sold close to home.

Canadian riders are no strangers to BDR. They have been riding BDR routes all across the United States for years, especially those close to the border, including the North East BDR, Adirondacks BDR-X, Montana BDR, Washington BDR and Idaho BDR, with the Michigan BDR coming in 2027.

Dedicated to Developing a Canadian Network

MotoMotto’s position as Canada’s go-to source for adventure and touring riders reinforces its commitment to making ADV riding more accessible across the country. Its mission is simple yet ambitious: guide, equip and support dealers and riders from coast to coast to coast. BDR routes are at the center of this mission, bringing local ADV riders together to share stories, meet fellow riders and start planning their next adventure.

Over the coming years, MotoMotto and BDR will work with local dealers across Canada to make BDR maps and decals available in more shops. Riders can also look forward to BDR film screenings at participating Canadian dealerships, giving them another reason to connect with their local shop and fellow riders.

"Adventure riders see no borders. We're grateful to MotoMotto for helping us serve our Canadian riders better, and we're proud to stand for friendship and cooperation between our two countries.”

Inna Thorn, BDR Executive Director

Connecting with Canada's Adventure Routes

Canada already has a thriving network of long-distance adventure routes. The Trans Quebec Trail (TQT) has grown to more than 8,000 kilometres (nearly 5,000 miles) across Quebec since its launch in 2021. The Trans Canada Adventure Trail (TCAT), a coast-to-coast route from British Columbia to Newfoundland, has been revalidated and is set for a full relaunch in 2027. BDR looks forward to working with Classique Ridaventure, the nonprofit behind both routes, to welcome U.S. riders who come to Canada to ride not only BDR routes but also these local Canadian favourites.

''For more than 15 years, BDR has been synonymous with rider education and collaboration with local communities to create extraordinary adventure riding experiences across the USA. MotoMotto is excited to join forces with BDR to further support and grow the adventure riding community in Canada. ''

Dominique Lepage, General Manager MotoMotto/Touratech Canada

BDR and MotoMotto/Touratech Canada thank the riders, dealers and volunteers in both countries who keep adventure riding thriving.
