The Touratech mudguard riser prevents mud build-up between the tire and mudguard which could cause the front wheel to lock.

For a long-distance touring motorcycle, the 1190 Adventure has a relatively close-fitting front mudguard, especially if block pattern tires are used.

The original mudguard is retained in its entirety, but is raised by a critical 15 mm. Generally this is enough to prevent mud clogging between the front wheel and mudguard so you can keep riding even in bad muddy conditions.
